To a Chain Letter
Deep behind this sad mish-mash
must be some secret source
making people oh so rash
in botching civil discourse;
some joy I have not found
in recounting tales of woe
to which the innocent reader’s bound
lest he or she not this line toe.
This man waited a bit too long
to pass along the letter:
Horrid disease struck his ding dong—
he should have known better.
This family gave a scoff
“Just plebian superstition!”
Then their cable was shut off,
plunging them into perdition.
This woman had it worst of all;
had only nine friends in the world.
Lack of a tenth friend made her bawl
and demons her deep in the pit hurled.
Since humanity conceived the letter
many have chosen abuse
even as they know better.
Gee, thanks for the extra refuse.
